Read Aloud (books we read in class)- The 100th Day of School, George Washington, Meet the Presidents' Day, Pete The Cat-Valentine's Day is Cool, The Love Monster and the Perfect Present.
Writer's Workshop: We worked on writing 100 things we would love to have and 100 thing we would NOT want at all! We wrote sentences about what we would do if we were 100 years old
Word Wall Work: (words we add to our wall and study) this week we added: "him" "have" "had"
Shared Reading (poems/songs we read together) "100th day of School"
Math: We counted to 100 many different ways: by ones, tens, tally marks etc. We are working on filling in a number scroll which fit perfectly this week! Projects: George Washington
Library News: The children may now check out 2 books at a time since they have been so responsible with 1. They were shown where the nonfiction section of the library is so you may see some of these books coming home now.
Guided Reading: I am pulling small groups of children for guided reading instruction.Right now we are working on fluency. Keep these strategies in mind as your child reads at home. 1. Eagle eye (look at the picture) 2. Fish lips (get your mouth ready for the 1st sound) 3. Stretchy snake (look through the word) 4. Chunky Monkey (look for small words or chunks)
Zoo Phonics! Many children already know their letters...woo hooo!!! I will be teaching ZOO PHONICS this year which will focus on letters, digraphs, and blends. This week we reviewed the digraphs: "sh" "th" and "ch". We are also learning about the "ing" brothers and "oo"
Computer Lab- The children had a choice reading on Raz-kids.com or playing a few games on Starfall.com
Social Studies/Science: We study the George Washington and Abe Lincoln for the next 2 weeks

With Spring around the corner please make sure your child dresses accordingly. We have a recess in the AM so the children still need a coat.
